Shirley Phipson, author of Nyasaland and our Lifetime Memories, will be appearing at the bookshop on Tuesday, 17th June between 10 am. and 4 pm.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR  


Shirley Phipson lived in Torrance for thirty years, worked in Glasgow, and now lives in Milngavie. Her first book is about Malawi, when the Country was still called Nyasaland. It is entitled '  NYASALAND AND OUR LIFETIME MEMORIES '  and on December 20th last year she held her first booksigning.


ABOUT THE BOOK


Her parents were both in the Army. Her father was posted missing twice, so her mother took an overseas posting to North Africa to find him, and did so. Her father went on a pioneering journey to East Africa in 1949. They joined him in January 1950, where he was working for a British firm who intended to setting up a Project to assist in the Country's development.

The story tells of the County's early years, the slave traders, and peace being brought, then their lives out there
